In Loving Memory of Cynthia Ann McConkey Thomas

Cynthia “Cindy” McConkey Thomas, age 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 29th after a courageous 16-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Throughout her time on this Earth, she graced the lives of many, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love, kindness and joy. She lived a life filled with compassion, always extending a helping hand to those in need. Her warm smile and caring nature brightened even the darkest days. She had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel valued and cherished. Cindy had a deep love for her family, inspirational books and was always ready for a trip. She was our beautiful free-spirited Mom. She was a loving mother and an adoring Grandie. Her unconditional love and unwavering support were the pillars that held our family together through all of life's challenges. Cindy graduated from St Mary's School of Nursing in 1976 and dedicated her career to the care of others. She was a respected leader at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Sweetwater Nursing Center, Norris Health and Rehab and Amedisys Hospice Care. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire and guide us. While her physical presence may be gone, she will live on in the stories shared, memories cherished and lives she touched. Cindy is preceded in death by grandparents Earl and Erma McConkey, Carl and Irene Mynatt; Father Earl (“Pete”) McConkey; brother-in-law Gary Monroe. She is survived by son, James A.
