Yvonne Hart Sorey

Yvonne Hart (Cox) Sorey, age 88, of Knoxville, TN., passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022. Yvonne was the beloved eldest daughter of the late John R. and Lois B. Hart. She grew up on the family farm at Hart Road and Northshore Drive, and in the Oakwood Community in North Knoxville. She attended Oakwood Elementary, Christenberry Middle School, and Knoxville Central High School, Class of 1951. She later went on to graduate from Knoxville Business College. Yvonne had a career at GMAC until retirement in 1988. Over the years, Yvonne was a pianist for Riverview Baptist Church. She grew to be a beautiful woman, wife, and mother of two loving daughters, Vicki Lynne Cox Wolinsky (Mark Wolinsky) and Katherine Patrice Cox. She was our best friend. We laughed, we cried, and made such good memories together. We will cherish these memories forever. She was truly loved by all and will be missed terribly, but her chains are broken and Heaven just gained another glorious angel! She shares two daughters with her then husband James A. Cox, who passed away in October of 1996. Later she married Flonze E. Sorey, a minister and businessman in the Powell community. Flonze and Yvonne owned and ran the business in Powell called Valley Services, before his passing in January 2019. We will all see you again, mom! In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years Flonze Sorey, brother John R. (Buddy) Hart Jr., and sister Jennie Mae Hart Reid. Yvonne is survived not only by her two daughters and son-in-law, but two sisters, Lynne Hart Bowlby and Anne Hart-Murrian, sister-in-law Patricia Hart, two grandsons Benjamin James Wildman (Laura Wildman) and Charles Frederick Wildman, III (Stacy Wildman), six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and extended family Stanley (Jane) Sorey, Linda (David) Noonkesser, Pam S. Clark, and Paul (Ginger) Sorey, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren from the Sorey family. Receiving of friends will be Friday, May 6, 2022, from 5PM until 7PM, with the funeral service beginning at 2PM on Saturday, May 7, 2022. All services will take place at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain Chapel. Interment will follow at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.
