William Everette Tindall

William “Bill” Everette Tindall passed away on September 3, 2026, in Cosby, Tennessee, at the age of 88. The son of the late Georgia Burch and step-father Aubrey Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Ann (Wine) Tindall.

He proudly served in the United States Navy, followed by a fulfilling career with the Department of State Foreign Service where he worked and lived in many countries abroad with his wife and children. He retired to Cosby, Tennessee with his wife.

He enjoyed the outdoors and loved nature. A typical day was spent gardening, feeding the birds and other wildlife, and maintaining his property. He also enjoyed doing cryptogram, Sudoku, and crossword puzzle books.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children William Roger “Skip” Tindall and daughter-in-law Mona; Gerald Lance Tindall, daughter-in-law Allison, and two grandchildren Brindley Tindall and Alexa Tindall; Michelle Kay Mitrik and two grandchildren Hazel Mitrik and Havana Mitrik Pacholewski, and her husband Caleb Pacholewski. Other family members are half-brother Aubrey “Skip” Thompson and wife Nancy and half-sister Eva Kennedy, and their children. Bill leaves behind a close and special friend of many years, Leo Jones, as well as many other family members and friends.

A military ceremony and inurnment will be held in the Chapel on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Dolly Parton Children's Hospital, formerly East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, in Knoxville, Tennessee.
