William "Billy" Howard Spires, Sr.

William “Billy” Howard Spires, Sr., age 72, of Knoxville, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family and friends. He was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was an avid sports lover, and he grew up boxing for Golden Gloves. He loved cooking, gambling, shopping, and going to the YMCA where he made some great friends. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all of those who were privileged to know him. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Lon and Ruth Spires; brothers: Bruce, Lonny and Warren Spires; sisters: Jimmie Ruth Williams, Mary Sigman and Regina Sue Haun; and nephews: Robbie Spires and James Long. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Spires; daughter, Jeannie Ramsey (Shaun); sons: William Howard Spires, Jr. and Roy Wilson; brother, Robert Spires (Sandy); sister, Elaine Hancock (Norman); grandchildren: Brooklyn Capps (Bradley), Marissa, Brianna, Haley, and Alex Spires; great-grandchildren: Emory, Camden, Ivy, Leighton, Landon, Ayden, and Amoura.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 5-7pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, followed by a 7:00pm Celebration of Life Service.
