William “Bill” A. Martin age 64, of Corryton, went home to be the Lord on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. Bill was saved at an early age, and was a faithful member of Atkins Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Gibbs High School, graduating class of 1979. Bill went on to attend Mid-American College of Funeral Service where he obtained both his Funeral Director and Embalmer licenses. After mortuary school Bill was employed at Rose Mortuary for 46 years. Bill was very compassionate about his job and the families he helped serve.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ronnie and Judy Martin, mother and father-in-law, Imogene and Charles Chandler, brother, Jack Martin, and twin granddaughters, Jovie Skye and Elsie Grace Akins.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Debbie Chandler Martin, daughters: Kayla (Drew) Akins and Brooke Martin, and his grandchildren, who were all his pride and joy: Brynleigh, Lochlan, Berkley, and Lennox Akins and Keelan and Kason Harbison; brother, Chris (Cathy) Martin, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to especially thank the following people: Dr. Kumar and Samantha at Fresenius Clinic in Powell. Michael Freeman, Bridget Smith at UT Vascular, and James Hurst and Brandy Hopson at Summit Medical Group Halls.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home, Powell Chapel. At Bill’s request the graveside service will be private. Serving as pallbearers are his son-in-law, Drew Akins, brother, Chris Martin, and special friends, Carl Miller, Billy Mounger, Buddy Coomer and Stan Ingle.
