Wilda Alva "Al" Greene

Knoxville

Wilda Alva “Al” Greene of Louisville, Tennessee peacefully passed away on Friday, January 12th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at home. Al was born in May of 1942 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He graduated from East High School in 1961 and then served in the U.S. Army. Al spent 35 years with Rohm & Haas Company and successfully built a sizable real estate portfolio in his free time. He loved the Lord and faithfully served at Sevier Heights Baptist Church as a deacon and chairman of the building committee for many years.  He always had a way to make others feel important and cared for whether through a joke or a word of encouragement.  Al was an avid runner and enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida with his wife, Jerrye.

 

Preceded in death by parents: Bill and Hazel Greene; first wife of 34 years: Carolyn Greene; brother-in-law: Bill Horner; sister-in-law: Pam Greene; niece: Debbie Horner

 

Al is survived by his loving wife: Jerrye; sons: Damon Greene (Jami), Dagan Greene (Shannon); step-children: Angie Lyle (Chuck), Terry Troutman (Meg), Kristi Brackfield (Buddy); brother: Tommy Greene; sister: Betty Horner; niece: Shanna Greene (Bart); nephews: Greg Horner (Michelle), Derek Greene (Gail); grandchildren: Garrett Greene, Elijah Greene (Kendall), Jackson Greene, Ezra Greene, Bennett Greene, Josie Greene, and Lucy Greene; step-grandchildren: Christin Eastman (Johnny), Calli Drummey (Brett), Chase Lyle, Abby Fennell (Andy), Catherine Krabbe (Ross), Jordan Campbell (Colton), Lindsey Ayres, Connor Lyle; as well as extended family and many close friends.

 

In lieu of flowers, Al asked that donations be made to Isaiah 117 House to support their important work caring for children.

Due to the inclement weather, the family will welcome friends to visitation from 12:00 noon til 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18th, 2024 followed by a celebration of life service at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City located at 2829 Rennoc Road, Knoxville, TN 37918, burial to follow at Lynnhurst Cemetery located at 2300 Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918.   Condolences may be left at www.mynattfh.com
