Wanda Faye Russell (Lee), born on December 14, 1947, in Lexington, KY, and raised in Knoxville, TN by her parents William E. Lee, Sr. and Helene C. Lee, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Tucson, AZ, in January 28, 2026. Wanda led a meaningful life defined by faith, generosity, and encouragement. She was a devoted woman of faith who joyfully shared her beliefs and cared deeply for others, always displaying kindness and positivity. Her family brought her tremendous happiness, and she cherished every moment spent with loved ones. Wanda will be remembered as a Proverbs 31 woman-"victorious, God-fearing, compassionate to those in need, and respected by her family for her strength, dignity, and unwavering faith. Her children rise up and call her blessed, and her husband praises her."She was preceded in death by her parents, William E. Lee,Sr. and Helene C. Lee; her grandson, Bryson Russell; her niece Kara Lee; her uncle, Manual Cheracles; and two beloved dogs, Alvin and Linus. Wanda is survived by her husband, Donald F. Russell; daughter, Amy Martin (Raymond); son, Jason Russell (Charity); brothers, William E. Lee, Jr. (Heather) and Byron E. Lee (Kathy); grandchildren, Jonathan Scales, Alyssa Russell, Josiah Russell, Tobias Russell, and Kaitlyn Russell; nephews, Caleb Pressley and fiancee Margaret, Andrew Lee, Lehla Lee McMahan, Katina Lee Jones; her dog Koby; numerous extended family members in Tennessee and Virginia Beach; special cousin Brenda Mitchell; and lifelong friends from Central High School's Class of 1965. The family extends sincere gratitude to Wanda's primary provider, Tricia Caldwell, NP; oncologist, Dr. Jillian O'Donnell; Lisa Beth
Engelberg, NP; nephrologist, Dr. Anjuman Howlader; and the many nurses and caregivers who provided compassionate care. Per Wanda's wishes, there will be no public funeral service. A private graveside service for immediate family will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or given to someone in need. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Mynatt's Funeral Home in Knoxville, TN and are not complete at this time.
