Wanda Louise Matthews

October 16, 1935 — April 25, 2024

Wanda Louise Matthews: Our sweet Miss Wanda went to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 25, 2024.

Born on October 16, 1935, she graduated from Central High School and from Fort Sanders Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse.  Throughout her career, she worked at several medical facilities, however, she retired from St. Mary’s Medical Center after many years of service.  Miss Wanda was a wonderful caregiver to many, and had a servant’s heart. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City. In her spare time, she loved to attend to her flower garden, play BINGO and win chocolate!

Wanda is preceded by her parents, Simeon and Velma (Padgett) Matthews and her faithful companions, Bitsy the dog, and Prissy the cat. She leaves us with a lifetime of memories that will be shared by the numerous cousins, extended family members, and many friends.

Family and friends will meet at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Cemetery (2300 Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN 37917) at 10:45 am Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Miss Wanda will be laid to rest at 11:00 am.

Special thanks to the staff at The Pointe at Lifespring for their kindness and superior care of our sweet Miss Wanda.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to Random Acts of Flowers 2936 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, TN 37921 rafknoxville.org

Mynatt Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Miss Wanda Matthews.
