Walter James “Jim” Stroud Jr., 66, of Knoxville, TN, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 14, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, Jim will be remembered for his love of life and for bringing laughter to those around him.
A lifelong resident of Knoxville, Jim grew up in the restaurant business before operating several local restaurants including Eula’s Restaurant and Helma’s Restaurant. He had long careers with both Copper Cellar Corporation and Cook’s Pest Control where he had a reputation for being the first into the office to prepare the morning coffee. Jim never lost his passion for good food and enjoyed cooking family meals every Sunday until his passing.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Eula Mae Jenkins and Walter James “Walt” Stroud, his sister, Betty Housewright, and brother Jarvis Stroud.
He is survived by his adored wife, Teresa; son, Brandon (Sara) Stroud; daughters, Tiffany (Elijah) Helton and Taylor Stroud; and his cherished grandchildren, Parker, Paisley, Madison, Ayden, and Wyatt; and nieces and nephews, Karen “KK” Hubbs, Gale (Bob) Shown, Lisa (Jeff) Tarver, Jeff (Denise) Turner, and Tim Housewright.
Family will receive friends at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel (4131 E. Emory Rd. Knoxville) on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 8:00 PM officiated by Rev. Mike Segers. Family and friends will meet at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM and travel in procession to Lynnhurst Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment.
