Walter Crystal Shirk

Walter Shirk, 80, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Born on March 6, 1945, Walter was known for his love of coffee, his sweet tooth for candy, and his ability to make just about anyone laugh. He lived life with a twinkle in his eye, a joke on his lips, and just enough mischief to keep things interesting.

Walter's greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his daughter, Angela (Michael) Barr; granddaughter, Gabrielle (Nathan) Conner; and great-granddaughter, Brayleigh, all of whom will carry forward his humor, his warmth, and his knack for raising a little hell when the moment calls for it.

A special thanks to the incredible staff at his nursing home, Signature Healthcare of Fentress County, for their compassionate care, patience, and understanding. Their kindness provided Walter with comfort in his final years, and they became like family to him. Their dedication to making his days brighter will never be forgotten.

He will be remembered for the laughter he inspired, the joy he spread, and the way he never let life get too serious.
