Mrs. Vickie Kay Nichols Wilhite of Strawberry Plains went to her heavenly home on March 17, 2026. Vickie was born in Detroit, Michigan, and moved to Strawberry Plains when she was about two years old. She was one of a kind; selfless, generous, and always ready to help anyone in need. She loved fiercely and lived with an open heart.
A gifted hairdresser for 57 years, Vickie retired from JCPenney and continued to serve her clients as a freelance stylist. She truly lit up every room she entered, and nothing delighted her loved ones more than hearing, “Grandma Vickie is here.” She never met a stranger, greeting everyone with warmth, compassion, and a giving spirit. Her quick wit kept those around her laughing.
Her greatest joy was being “Grandma Vickie.” Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and she loved them with her whole heart.
Vickie was a member of Holston Baptist Church. Her legacy is one of kindness, service, and joy, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her mom, Edith Faye Horner Nichols Hart, her dad and stepmom, Ed and Elsie Nichols, her brothers Eddie Nichols and Jeffrey Logan Bailey, grandparents, Blanche Ellison Horner Glover and Hubert Horner and St. Clair Glover, brother-in-law Tom Weaver.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, David Wilhite, beloved friend and guardian cat Josey Wales, sons Brian (Ami) Wilhite, Brad Wilhite, grandchildren Eric (Jennie) Wilhite, Chadwick (Alexandra) Wilhite, Tiffaney (Matthew) Lawson, Bretlyn (Chase) McLain, Haley (Tyler) Coapman, Nic (Sarah) Montgomery. Great-grandchildren Parker & Neyland Lawson, Silas, Jack, and Charley Wilhite, Kolbie McLain, Conrad & Cleo Wilhite, Hattie Montgomery, and unborn great grandchild David Coapman. Former daughter-in-laws Kimberly Glenn, Karen Strange, and Janet Mills. Sister-in-law Carol Weaver, brother-in-law Jim (Ann) Wilhite. Best friends Jan Miller, Darlene Hamilton, Debbie Smith and many cousins, extended family members and friends.
