Vickie Smith McClain, age 68, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on March 23, 2024.

A 1973 graduate of Rutledge High School in Grainger County she developed her skills for sewing and fashion as a member of FHA. Vickie worked 18 years on a sewing manufacturing line at Levi Strauss on Cherry Street in Knoxville, Tennessee before the plant closed in 1997, followed by 24 years as a Visual Merchandiser with JCPenney at both East Towne and West Town Malls.  She enjoyed using her creativity and artistic skills for seasonal store displays, and fashion styling of merchandise.

Vickie had a lifelong love of animals from caring for rabbits in her younger years to adopting many rescue cats and dogs.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband for weekend trips around East Tennessee and occasionally visiting beaches in Florida and South Carolina.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Danny McClain, her daughter Heather Henderlight (Josh), son Brandon McClain, granddaughter Avery Henderlight, brother Rodger Smith, mother-in-law Ann McClain, brother-in-law Tommy McClain, sister-in-law Gail McClain, and several nephews and nieces. Vickie was preceded in death by her father Roy Wallace Smith, mother Martha Stalsworth Smith, sister-in-law Wanda Stalans Smith, grandson Gavin Henderlight, father-in-law Eugene McClain, brothers-in-law Steve McClain and Terry Joe McClain.

A celebration of life for Vickie will be scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Young-Williams Animal Center. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Mynatt's Funeral Home Halls Chapel in Knoxville, Tennessee
