Vickie was 64 years old at her time of passing on January 13, 2025. Her two adult children, her little brother, and her husband were able to spend time with her at the hospital after she suffered a massive stroke the week before.
Vickie was born in Durango, CO on June 18, 1960, the daughter of Donald Allen Walton and Minnie Lois Walton (Kight). Both are deceased.
Vickie graduated from Poway High School in Poway, CA where her family had moved when she was a teenager. She attended some college and earned multiple certificates in the healthcare field.
Brian Lee Hoose married Vickie JoDell Walton on June 26, 1981 in Vista, CA. The couple was married 43 years and lived in multiple states and overseas due to Brian’s military service in the U.S. Air Force. Vickie deserved any and all awards a military spouse could receive. She didn’t always like moving, but she made her family’s life a happy one.
Vickie is survived by her husband Brian. Her son Michael Brooks Hoose of Colorado, and his children Logan, Henry, Charlie and Jaycee. Also Vickie’s daughter Amanda Jacqueline Carreon (Hoose) of Nebraska, and her children Jaykob, Elayna, and Emily. Also Vickie’s brothers Terry Walton of Pennsylvania, and Robbie Walton of California and her sister Stephanie Piper (Walton) of Nevada.
Vickie worked several jobs in healthcare over the years. Her favorite, without a doubt, was being a phlebotomist. If a co-worker had trouble with a draw, they’d come to Vickie to get it. No problem. She was great with people and an undeniable asset when she worked in hospice. Over those two years she assisted many people in leaving this world with grace and dignity and love. So many families were blessed by her caring and compassion.
Vickie loved being a mom. She would do almost anything to be there for her kids. She also had a passion for all things planted. Whether it be vegetable or flower gardening she excelled at it. The bigger beds, she would go out and work barefoot so she could squish the mud between her toes. Vickie is missed by all.
A note: Sweetheart you deserved better. I know it’s been almost a year since you’ve been gone, but I couldn’t bring myself to write this. It seemed so permanent. Until we meet again in heaven.
Always and forever, Brian
