Valerie Herlong Thurman

Valerie Herlong Thurman, 93, of Corryton, TN, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025. Valerie was born on March 5, 1932, to the late Wallace and Mary Herlong.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thurman; sister, Jean Parris; brother, Wallace Watson Herlong; and grandson, Chris Davis.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Hall; son, R.D. Thurman; daughter, Gayle Davis (Larry); grandsons, Jason Thurman (Suzi), Josh Thurman (Ashley) and Daniel Davis (Jenny); friend, Sally Harrah (Earle); and a host of great grandchildren; and extended South Carolina family.

Valerie enjoyed traveling and visiting new places with her husband before his passing. She was a member of Union Baptist Church where she played piano in her younger years. Valerie loved the Lord and enjoyed spending time with her family and especially adored the daily phone calls with her sister, Mary.

Family will receive friends from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel.
