Thomas Joe Hewitt

Thomas Joe Hewitt, 83, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on June 26, 2026. 

Thomas served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict as an Aviation Boatswains Mate, ensuring safe aircraft handling aboard the USS Constellation. After his duty ended, Thomas worked as a truck driver until his retirement. 

He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and the Beaver Ridge Masonic Lodge #366. He really enjoyed singing in his church choir until his health forced him to step down. Even in his final days with us, he loved singing church hymns. One of his favorite pastimes was watching his grandkids play sports.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Lola Hewitt; his beloved son, Casey Stair; and brothers, Stanley and David Hewitt.

He is survived by his loving wife Annabelle; children, Lisa McCown (Rick), Greg Hewitt, Rick Stair (Stephanie), and Michael Stair (Kim); sister, Pat McMahon; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 5-7pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Powell Chapel. A funeral service will follow with Pastors Justin Keck and John Sexton officiating.

Friends and family will meet at Highland Cemetery on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 10:45am for an 11am Graveside Service with military honors. 

Pallbearers: Reese Hewitt, Mason Hewitt, Jake Hewitt, Kevin Hewitt, Skylar Stair, and Matthew Stair.
