Thomas Harless

It is with great sadness that we must report the loss of our Precious Tom, who passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026. Tom was a member of Union Baptist Church, where he served proudly in the Audio/Visual TV Ministry for 43 years. He was employed by Knox County Schools Systems. Tom was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved playing golf and attending and watching UT sports. Tom loved his family and friends. He was a great husband, son, father, grandfather, uncle, neighbor, and friend to many.

He is survived by his wife, Dewilda Harless; daughter, Dawn (Danny) Spangler; Ian (Nikki) Adams; step-grandsons, Tyler (Tyra), Spencer (Brooke) and Preston Spangler; nephews, Brandt Weaver, Brian (Kerrie) Harless; nieces, Loftyn Weaver, Debbie Harless; many cousins and friends; brother-in-law, Stan Ingram; sister-in-law, Mary Ingram and Betty Harless; and special friends, Ron Tilley, Dale & Susan Buress and Penny & Dennis Wagner.

Preceded in death by father and mother, Albert and Victoria Harless; brother, Bob Harless; father and mother-in-law, Ray and Juanita Kitts; and many aunts and uncles and special friends.

We want to thank his special care givers, Pam Wright and Angie Grant, who was a godsend to Tom; and UT Hospice Care, Dr. Amy Rosine and Sharon Pinkstone and many wonderful neighbors.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 3, 2026, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, with a 7:00pm Funeral service with Rev. Craig Cummins and Rev. Ray Headrick officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:45pm on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at the Union Baptist Cemetery for a 2:00pm Graveside service with Rev. Bruce Spangler officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to the Pat Summit foundation in Tom’s name.
