Thelma Jean Owens

Thelma Jean Owens, age 85 of Heiskell, Tn, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 21, 2023 surrounded by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Noah and Irene Lowe; sisters, Teresa and Dorothy; brother, Tony, Jimmy, Donnie and Curtis; sons, Nathaniel Jr. and Vincent Owens, and special Treadway family members.

She is survived by her loving and caring husband of 66 years, Nathaniel ‘Dock” Owens Sr.; son, David (Joni) Owens; daughter, Lynne (Scott) Eddins; sister, Reba (Brian) Ledford; brother, Joe Lowe; three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She retired from U.S. Forestry division after 34 years and was a member of Grace Baptist Church (Karns). She had a love for flowers, working at Dollywood, she dedicated her life to helping others, and always put Christ first.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM Monday, September 25, 2023 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM. The family and friend will meet at Fort Sumter Cemetery following the funeral service for a 1:00 PM interment service.
