Tammy A. Monroe, age 62, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2026, in the care of Willow Ridge Center, Maynardville, TN after an extended illness. Tammy was saved at an early age and was of the Baptist faith. She was the beloved child of Madelyn Cox and Clayton Bart Monroe. Tammy was born in Tucson, AZ, during her father's military service at Davis-Monthan Air Force base. Her career included working as a medical records technician at the Oak Ridge National Lab. Tammy's love for animals, especially cats, was well known by all who knew her. She also enjoyed spending time with friends and family as well as rooting for the Tennessee Volunteers.
She is deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her father, Clayton Monroe; her paternal uncle, Claude Allen; her paternal aunt, Teresa Garrett; maternal uncle, Alvin K. Lynch, Jr.; her special cousins, Audrey, Renee, Stacy, Peggy, and Terry; as well as her special friend, Melanie (Sissy) and sister, Carol Linn Godbee. She was preceded in death by her mother, Madeline Lynch Cox; sister Roxann Monroe, her maternal grandmother, Lou Butler; her maternal grandfather, Alvin K. Lynch, Sr.; her paternal grandmother, Margaret Seville, and paternal grandfather, Bart I. Monroe.
The family will receive friends at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel located at 4131 E Emory Road, Knoxville, TN on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by a 7:00 PM Celebration of Life Service officiated by Reverend Roy Larue and Pastor Chris Stanfield. Family and friends are invited to attend and share their favorite memories of Tammy. Family and friends will meet at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, to go in procession for an 11:30 AM inurnment at Cardwell Cemetery, located off Cardwell Ridge Road, Lone Mountain, TN.
The family would like to acknowledge the love and kindness extended to Tammy during her many years under the care of Willow Ridge Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Tammy's name to your local humane society.
