Susan Elizabeth Hicks

Mrs. Susan Elizabeth Hicks Born February 5, 1941, in Thomasville Georgia has passed away September 19, 2026. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by family after a period of time on hospice. After graduating high school and attaining a scholarship Susan chose nursing as her career choice. Susan graduated Warren A. Candler School of Nursing with a R.N. degree in Savanah Georgia. While at college she met a tall thin man at a dance who told her upon their first meeting "I will marry you the day you graduate!". And he did. Susan married Virgil Kermit Hicks in the newly built chapel on the school site. They were truly meant to be together and were till Virgil's passing. She is now with the love of her life. She loved and excelled in her nursing career. She worked in hospitals, clinics, VA facilities and dialysis in several states, then as a Nurse practitioner till her retirement. She enjoyed Bible study, gardening (flower and vegetable), cooking, teaching Sunday school, crocheting, reading, Sci-Fi, Genealogy, Holiday get togethers, travel, being a (Memaw) grandmother and her fur babies. Susan Elizabeth Hicks is survived by son Shawn Kermit Hicks, his sweet wife Mona, and bonus grandchildren whom she loved Kevin and Rachel. Daughter Margaret Michele Warwick, beloved son-in-law Kevin and her "partner-in-mischief" grandson Seth, and her precious bonus granddaughters Brittany and Tiffany. Brother Lester Wyche Poole (the baby of the family and the true meaning of heart of home), Loving Sister-in-law Cornellia Killian, Brother and Sister-in-law Eddie and Vonda Hicks (who gave great strength to the family, Susan was so very proud of the both of them). Son-in-laws Father Wilbur Warwick and sons-in-laws sister Lisa Ridenour and her wonderful son Dustin. Many cousins, nieces and nephews that are all blessings, joys and continue the wonderful thread of this wonderful family and journey. We are grateful to all the special hospice angels that helped care for Mom. We love you and thank you for all you do! Susan will be placed to rest with her true love at Center View Baptist in Maiden, North Carolina were the story of her married life started and the eternal reunion embarks. In leu of flowers donations can be made to Sacred Hope Hospice.
