Shirley Saunders

Shirley Irene Saunders, age 79 of Knoxville, TN was healed of illness and taken in to the arms of her Heavenly Father Sunday, September 25th, 2022. She enjoyed church, gospel and country music, cheering on The Vols, playing cards with her precious friends, but most of all spending time with her family and sitting outside. She worked as a cashier for many years in North Knoxville at Emory Road IGA, K-Mart, and Walmart on Clinton Hwy. Preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Roosevelt "Pete" McKinney and Emma "Mae" McKinney; brother, Richard Allen McKinney and sister, Barbara Jean McKinney. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Gary and Donna Saunders; daughter, Lisa Saunders Hughes; grandchildren, Shea Saunders, Camden Hughes, Hayden Hughes; sister, Rosetta "Boots" McKinney; sister-in-law, Marsha McKinney and special niece and nephews and their children in Virginia; Special thanks to the amazing staff and caregivers of Shannondale Nursing Facility where she was loved and cared for like the Diva she was for the last 2 1/2 years and made some of her best friends. The family will receive friends on Friday September 30th between 6:00-7:00 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with a service to follow officiated by Reverend Joshua Ferguson.
