Shelia Joyce Brogan

Shelia Joyce Martin Brogan, age 75, of Powell, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024. She was surrounded by family and loved ones who cherished her deeply. Born on January 12, 1949, Shelia was the daughter of Paul and Margie Martin. She grew up in Lake City and graduated from Lake City High School in 1967. After high school, she embarked on a career as a hair stylist, a passion she pursued for over 50 years in the Powell community. Shelia’s clients were not just customers but lifelong friends she cared for deeply, often becoming like extended family. Her warmth, kindness, and genuine interest in the lives of those she served left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Shelia loved her family fiercely and was happiest when surrounded by her son, grandson, and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Wally Brogan; her beloved son, Chris Brogan and his fiancée, Haley Violet; her treasured grandson, Connor Brogan and Cierra and her great-grandchildren, Eli and Sophia Brogan. 

Shelia is also survived by her sister, Brenda Bice; brother-in-law, Eddie Brogan (and wife, Mary Anne); special first cousin Jim Brogan and Priscilla and her nieces, Sayona Shoemaker Groover (and husband, Gary Groover), Tammy Bice Marlow (and husband, Gene Marlow), and Kristi Bice Phillips (and husband, Chris Phillips). She is remembered by several great-nieces and nephews, who brought her much joy. 

Special friends include Geraldine Linkous, Patty Arnold, and all her work family from Le Coop Salon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Margie Martin; her sisters, Janice Martin and Shelby Martin Shoemaker and her in-laws, Condy and Gilberta Brogan.

Shelia will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her craft, and her long-time clients who brightened her days as much as she brightened theirs. Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 14, 2025 from 4:00pm - 5:00pm followed directly by a 5:00pm service at Mynatt Funeral Home Powell Chapel.
