Shane Ronald Dean Delaney, age 39, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 23, 2025. Born on November 8, 1985, Shane was a proud lifelong resident of Knoxville and a true son of East Tennessee.
Shane’s love for God guided his actions, shaped his values, and gave him strength throughout his life. He recently achieved a lifelong dream when he became the Defensive Back Coach at his alma mater, Central High School. Coaching wasn’t just a job to Shane, but his passion, his calling, and the way he gave back to the community he loved so deeply. He poured his heart into mentoring young athletes and helping them grow not just as players, but as people. His energy, leadership, and unwavering support left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege to know him.
He is survived by his loving sister, Brooklyn Stanley; his two sons, Ayron and Donovan Delaney; and his cherished grandchildren, Azryael and Auroara Delaney. His legacy lives on through them, and through the countless lives he touched both on and off the field.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 31, at Mynatt Funeral Home Powell Chapel, located at 2000 Powell Drive, Powell, TN 37849. The reception of family and friends will take place from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a service at 4:00 PM. The depth of Shane’s love, generosity, and passion for life reached farther and touched more lives than he ever knew. What better legacy is there?
