Samuel(Sam) Leon Maddox age 74 of Knoxville passed peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, February 12th, one day shy of his birthday. An automotive master mechanic by trade, Sam retired from TDOT as a HELP truck operator assisting many in need for many years. He worked at UPS and KUB both as a mechanic, and was a proud Teamster during his time at UPS. He loved fast muscle cars, and had a passion for corvettes through the years.
He was a musician by heart, he played guitar since he was a child, inspiring many to learn the gifts music brought to life especially to his son.
Sam is preceded in death by his wife Christie, parents Samuel and Dorothy Maddox, son in law Chris Armstrong, and sisters and brother in laws Ramona and Arthur Meyers, Charlie Carte, Betty and Bobby Humphrey, Dottie Monday, his nephew Keith Monday as well as Harley and Frances Carroll who were a large part of his life.
He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Armstrong, son Brad Maddox, his childrens’ mother Nancy, granddaughters Lily, Kenzie, Grace, and Kendall, stepdaughter Kelley Schwartz, His Sisters Pat Carte and Peggy Ripperger and his nieces and nephews, Sherrie, John, Mike, Jeff, Gayle, Susan, Todd, Tim and Jason whom he loved like his own, as well as Jason and Brady White and his beloved little dog Sprout.
The family will have a celebration of life Sunday February 25th, receiving of friends 4 till 6 with a time for sharing service following at Mynatt’s Chapel in Fountain City. The family and friends are welcome to share memories and stories of Sam during the service.
