Rubye Jean Lethco Rucker, age 80, of Strawberry Plains, TN, passed away on December 3, 2023. She was born on February 16, 1943, to Frank Lethco and Dorothy Rimmer Lethco. She was a native of Dandridge, Tennessee. Rubye worked for many years with the Tennessee Valley Authority. She especially enjoyed reading and crocheting. She blessed others by crocheting blankets that she then donated to Children’s Hospital. She was a big sports fan and dearly loved her Tennessee Volunteers. Most importantly, she loved Jesus Christ and served Him in many ways over the years as a member of Thorngrove Baptist Church.
Rubye was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Dorothy Lethco; her husband of 43 years James Rucker; and her sister Barbara Trent.
Rubye is survived by her son Fred Patterson III; her stepson Tom (Kara) Rucker; her sister, Jane Lethco Corbett; her niece Elise McCalvin; and her nephews Craig Corbett, James Corbett, and Bill Trent. Rubye’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the management and staff of the Magnolia House Assisted Living Facility in Conyers, GA, and Abbey Hospice in Social Circle, GA, for their dedicated and compassionate care of her in her final days.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Mynatt Funeral Home (Fountain City Chapel) with funeral services following in the chapel. Officiated by Rev. Ted Padgett. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville.
