Ruby (Brown) Tatum age 82, of Knoxville, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at University of Tennessee Medical Center. She was the Matriarch of New River of Life Church. Her first priority was her faith and her family. She loved diamond art and gospel music.
Preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Leon Brown, Sr.; parents, John and Lottie Turner; brothers, Kenneth and James Kidd, Edgar and John (Sue) Turner; daughter-in-law, Robin Brown; granddaughter, Amber Carroll, and grandson, TSpoon. Survivors; children, Carl (Shirley) Brown, Jr., Angi (David) Cash, Lisa (Rick) Strickland, Elizabeth (Paul) Hinshaw, Eddie "baby" (Jackie) "doll" Brown, and Johnny and Cheryl; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, 4131 E. Emory Road Knoxville, TN 37938 followed by a 7:00 pm Celebration of Life Service, Rev. David Cash and Rev. Carl Brown, Jr. officiating. Family and friends will meet 12:15 pm Monday, May 4, 2026, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, to leave in procession for a 1:00 pm graveside service at Ft. Sumter Community Cemetery.
