Ronald Edward Henson, Sr.

Ronald Edward Henson, age 92 of Knoxville, left this world and passed into the glorious light of Christ on Friday September 25, 2026.  He was a man of deep faith, quiet strength, and remarkable character. For many years, he taught Sunday school and served in a Knox County prison ministry (FOCUS), faithfully sharing his faith and investing in the lives of others. He prepared his lessons with great care, filling pages with handwritten notes year after year before eventually deciding it was time to learn his way around a computer. He was a former member of First Baptist Church Fountain City and was a current member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Ron retired in 1989 after a 33-year career with TVA.  A gifted woodworker with an engineer’s mind and an extraordinary eye for detail, there seemed to be little he could not build, repair, or figure out. He was also a wealth of information, with a memory that rarely failed him. His meticulous nature could be seen in everything he did—even in the detailed budget books he faithfully kept throughout his life.  Yet for all his knowledge and ability, he will be remembered most for the way he treated people. He had a ready smile, a kind word, and genuine love for his family and others. He met life with a cheerful outlook, rarely complained, and\ faced challenges head-on with quiet determination.  For 92 years, he lived a life marked by faithfulness, curiosity, hard work, and love—a life that leaves behind not only things built by his hands, but lives touched by his kindness and faith. He is preceded in death by parents Ernest Paul Henson and Anne Elizabeth Hall, five brothers and two sisters, his wife of 66 years, Joyce Hale, and daughter, Donna Kaye.  Ron leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughters Becky (Tony) Jornd of Sevierville and Lisa (Paul) Weedy of Dahlonega, GA. Sons Buddy (Tamara) Henson, and Jeff (Angela) Henson, both of Knoxville. Six grandchildren: Christi Wampler of Knoxville,  Aaron (Winther) Watkins of Jefferson, GA, Alison (Jay) Moors of Clermont, GA, Baley (Alex) Hatmaker of Jacksboro, Trey Henson of Knoxville, and Hayden (Brittney) Henson of Knoxville. Six great grandchildren: Helio and Simon Wampler of Knoxville, Morghan Palat and Dominic Hardy of Jefferson, GA, Brayden, Lily, and Micah Moors of Clermont, GA, and Maison Hatmaker of Jacksboro. Special sister-in-law Pam (Ron) Martin of Chattanooga.  The family would like to offer special thanks for the exceptional care given to our father by the staff at Northshore Heights Senior Living. Special recognition to Katrina Baylor and Kasie Brenden and the rest of the staff at UT Hospice for their compassionate and loving care, especially in his last days.  Family and friends will meet at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday October 1, 2026, at Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville for a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. led by chaplain Gregg Bennett.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to UT Hospice, or St. Judes Research Hospital.  Condolences may be expressed at www.mynattfh.com.
