Roger Alan Simpson

Roger A. Simpson, 72, of Knoxville, Tennessee, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, September 13, 2026 with his wife by his side.

Roger was born in Clarinda, Iowa on March 10, 1954. He attended Villisca (Iowa) Community Schools and graduated from Red Oak (Iowa) High School. From there, he attended

Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. He spent his adult life in Colorado, Minnesota, the Washington, D.C. area, North Carolina and Tennessee.

Roger accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age. As many of you knew, he struggled with Parkinson's for the past six years. Although he was diagnosed with the disease at age 59, the real symptoms did not appear until COVID. Soon afterward, his health began to rapidly decline. During those six years, Roger never complained

once about having Parkinson's. He faced each day with courage and grace, taking life one day at a time.

Roger was a kind and loving man. His witty humor & laughter was infectious. He was truly the life of every party. Everyone loved him.

After moving from Minneapolis in the early 1990s, he met the love of his life and his greatest treasure, his wife, Jane. Together they shared 28 wonderful years together.

Roger approached life with joy and gratitude. He loved antique car shows, Formula One racing, College football, boating, Sunday morning blueberry pancakes and M&Ms.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Ellsworth Simpson & Anna Belle Simpson.

He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Laura (Jane) Simpson, his brother, Joel Kirk Simpson & his wife, Colleen Cay Simpson, His nephews, Jeffrey Ryan Simpson & Steven Scott Simpson & his wife Lauren Michelle Simpson, and his three great-nephews: Bennett Scott Simpson, William Michael Simpson, and Kellen Chase Simpson.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 11:30am at Rarity Bay Community Center, Vonore, TN, with a reception following the celebration of life service. There will also be a service in Charlotte, NC at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, family is requesting donations be made in Roger’s honor to the Michael A. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s.
