Roger Houston Pepper age 78, of Knoxville, born and raised in Wilmington, NC., passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Roger was raised in the Masonboro Baptist Church where he was saved and was a current member at First Baptist Maynardville. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and US Naval Reserve, serving during December 1965 to December 1970. His last station was on the USS Wahkiakum County as an EN3, Engineman Petty Officer 3rd class. After his discharge from the Navy, he went to work at St. Mary’s Hospital in the engineering department. He worked his way up to a supervisor position in the engineering department retiring after 31 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Jamie Donehew, and parents, Houston and Dorothy Phillips Pepper. He is survived by loving wife, Debbie Lane Pepper, children: Chris (Karen) Pepper, Angie (Pete) Pepper Jones, Eric (Brooke) Donehew, and Greg (Jess) Pepper; grandchildren: Daniel Pepper, Madison Donehew Butler, Michelle Pepper Batts, Damen Thompson, Ethan and Will Donehew, Kyleigh Lawson, Adelind Daniels, and Kori and Kruze Pepper; great-grandchildren: Huston and Grayson Pepper, siblings: Donna (Ray) Pepper Roland, Mark (Donna) Pepper, brothers-in-law, Butch (Jackie) Lane, Robbie (Robin) Martin, Randy (Robin) Martin, and sister-in-law, Kathy (Dennis) Kilburg; mother-in-law, Sue Martin, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday, January 6, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, followed by a 7:00 pm funeral service officiated by Cory Carroll and Phillip King. Family and friends will meet Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 8:15 am at East TN State Veteran Cemetery (John Sevier Hwy) for an 8:30 am interment service officiated by Phillip King.
