Robert "Gene" Stafford

2 Timothy 4:7- “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have
kept the faith.”
Robert “Gene” Eugene Stafford, age 82, passed away on July 24, 2023. He
was born December 24, 1940 at the old General Hospital in Knoxville, TN. He was a
member of Northshore Fellowship Church of God. Gene married Margie (Key)
Stafford on December 24, 1960. Gene was a former Knoxville Police Officer,
and worked at Rohm & Haas for 33 plus years in Knoxville and in Deer Park
Texas. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, 119th Air National
Guard, United States Coast Guard, 228th Air National Guard, Air National
Guard of Texas NCOIC.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Melvin Stafford of Chattanooga, TN;
Marvin William Stafford (Patsy), Buford Lee Stafford and Kenneth Stafford;
sisters, Helen Sue (Baby) Stafford, 5 months old of Chatsworth, Ga., Ruth
(Stafford) Lashley of North Bend, Ohio, Christine (Stafford) Cable of Ohio,
Thelma Stafford and Juanita of Chattanooga, TN; grandparents, Rufus
Stafford and Sally Fowler of Chatsworth, Georgia, Dr. Robert Bomar and Nora
(Jefferson) Bomar of Knoxville, TN; father-in-law, William Thomas Key;
mother-in-law, Phoebe Rhea (Hutchings) Key; several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margie (Key) Stafford; sons, Darryl
Eugene Stafford (Tammy), Bradley Michael Stafford (Tonya); sister-in-law, Billy
Rhea (Key) Barber (Glen), Sue Stafford of Kentucky; grandchildren, Haley
Stafford, Lauren Stafford, Michael Stafford, Aliyah Stafford, honorary
grandparent to Kylee Maupin and Shawn Maupin; Kristin Maupin (Brian);
several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at
Northshore Fellowship Church of God, 10015 Northshore Dr. Knoxville, TN
37922 from 5:00 PM until time of funeral service at 7:00 PM with Pastor
Stephen Smith officiating. Family and friends will meet on Tuesday, August 1,
2023 at 12:45 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel to go in procession to
East TN State Veterans Cemetery for an 2:00 PM graveside service.
