Robert Joseph Holmes II

Robert Joseph Holmes II, age 53, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center  surrounded by family and friends. Born on, October 29, 1971, he was a cherished son to Vernon and Barbara Holmes. Robert graduated from Abingdon High School, and served in the US Army. Upon discharge, he moved to Knoxville Tn. where he was employed by Thermo King for 28 years as a master technician. He was known for his honesty, loyalty, dependability and strong work ethic. Robert was a true family man who found immense joy in being a dad, pop, and papaw. He loved riding motorcycles, shooting guns, working on vehicles, and fellowship with family and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Fred and Geneva Barker, and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Pauline Holmes. Robert leaves behind his devoted son Joseph and his mother Kim Hicks; stepson Eric Acuff, stepdaughter Jessica Webber and husband Daniel; six grandchildren; his parents Vernon and Barbara Holmes; sister Frances Fridley and husband Robert; aunts and uncle, Kenneth and Annette Holmes, Evelyn Barton, Emma Brabson; nieces, Ashley Lindsay and husband Alex, and Mackenzie Fridley; several cousins, and his Thermo King work family.

A celebration of Robert's life will be held at a later date. Those wishing to honor his memory are encouraged to cherish their moments with loved ones, reflecting the values Robert held dear throughout his life.
