Robert Bruce Cronin

Robert “Bruce” Cronin Sr. (Papaw Cookie), 83, of Knoxville passed away Thursday January 25, 2024. 

Bruce was the son of Daniel Cronin Sr. and Ila Cronin. He was born in Morgantown, West Virginia on May 13, 1940. Bruce grew up in Oak Ridge and graduated from Knoxville Catholic High School in 1959. He retired from West Chevrolet. Bruce was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. 

Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Betty McGinnis Cronin; father, Daniel F. Cronin Sr. and stepmother Mary Cronin; mother, Ila Mackey Cronin; twin brother Daniel F. Cronin Jr.; sister Mary Jo Schramm; brother Charles T. Cronin; stepson Darrell Penland; grandson Joshua Penland. 

He is survived by son Robert Cronin Jr. (Nina); stepson Danny Penland (Connie); grandchildren Amber Penland Plont (Scott Medley); Tabitha Cronin Hall (Brian); Michael Cronin (Tiffani); Chris Cronin (Ashley Hall); sixteen great grandchildren. 

A graveside service will be held at Rocky Dale Cemetery in Corryton on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
