Oreitta (Rita) Delores Everett, age 85, of Knoxville, TN, entered into the presence of our Savior on Monday, February 2, 2026, at her residence at Windsor Ridge Assisted Living with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. As a member of New Beginning Baptist Church, she was the last remaining charter member of New Beginning. She was a devoted wife and a faithful mother and grandmother who found her strength in our Lord. Rita worked tirelessly at home and outside and was a retired seamstress from Levi Strauss. She enjoyed the life of an Army wife and especially cherished the times spent in Texas and Germany.
Rita is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, US Army Retired SFC, Norman Steve Everett; son, Danny Ray Everett; and two infant sons, Jackie and Ray.
She is survived by son, Steve Bryan Everett and his wife, Barbara and grandson, Shane Bryan Everett and his wife, Crystal.
The family would like to thank Reverend David Nicley of New Beginning Baptist Church for his unwavering devotion to their mother through his visits. Bridgett Burchfield, the nurses and staff of Windsor Ridge Assisted Living for the love support and tender care rendered over the past two years. UT Hospice for the exceptional care and peace they provided for the short three weeks they cared for mom. Dr. Shane Kelley of Summit Medical Group for the genuine concern with which he provided care for mom over the years.
A private viewing will be 3:00 pm Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel and is by invitation only. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at New Beginning Baptist Church (Copper Ridge Methodist Cemetery) and is open for family, members of New Beginning Baptist Church and members of New Victory Baptist Church. Those who attend will meet at the gravesite and are asked to wear a touch of Purple in their clothing. The family will receive friends after the graveside service in the fellowship hall of New Beginning Baptist. Reverend David Nicley will officiate the graveside service. Pallbearers will be Shane Everett, Rev. David Nicley, Brad Nicley, Braylon Nicley, Steve Loy and Kenny Webber. Honorary pallbearers and cherished friends of the family are Rev. Rusty Sharp, Jimmy Manis and Tom Walker.
