Richard Elton Bock

On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, Richard Elton Bock, 57, went home to heaven from Knoxville, TN. He was loved by anyone who knew him; patients, friends, family, neighbors, and strangers. Richard lived his life with the purpose to bring others to God and show the light of heaven. As a physician’s assistant, he worked to provide his patients with the best care possible. He dedicated his life to providing for his family, friends, and loved ones. Richard completed his Bachelor’s in Microbiology from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. After finishing his undergraduate, he graduated among the top of his class for Physician Assistance from Trevecca University in Nashville. Once finishing his studies, Richard returned to Knoxville to start his family with his loving wife, Sonja, where they raised two daughters together. Richard grew up as a member in First Lutheran Church. He went on to be an active member and Sunday school teacher at Fountain City United Methodist Church for 30 years. He and his wife had recently been attending Fountain City Church. During that time, he practiced for 27 years in internal medicine. Not only did he care for his patients physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well by praying and witnessing to them. He was most recently employed by Tennova Health. Richard was greeted in heaven by his Lord and Savior Jesus, his father Elmer Bock, mother Leola Bock, father-in-law Eddie Richmond, and other beloved family members. Richard is survived by his wife Sonja Bock, daughter Lauren (Bock) Berry and husband John Berry, daughter Amanda Bock, sister Susan Hill, and twin brother Robert Bock and wife Melissa Bock. He was additionally survived by nieces, nephews, other beloved family, and two grandpups Lula Belle and Reno. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00pm Monday, February 27, 2023 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel, followed by a 7:00pm Celebration of Life service. Family and friends will meet 12:30pm Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City to leave in procession for a 1:00pm graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery.
