Richard Walter Barraza

Richard Walter Barraza, age 81, of Knoxville, formerly of San Francisco, CA, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2025, at his home in Knoxville, TN.

Richard was an avid bowler and fisherman. He was a lifelong 49ers football fan but still cheered for the TN Vols. Richard was a quiet man who lived for his family. He was a great provider, good friend and good man. Richard was the best dad in the world.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon Frank and Marie Lenore Barraza; brother, Robert Barraza.

He is survived by his wife, Olga Barraza; children, Maria Kampsen (partner, Stephen Brewer) and Jennifer Mills (Kevin Mills); grandchildren, Jay G. Barraza (Partner, Ashlie Roberts), Jeffrey Barraza-Ortiz, Ashley Kampsen (partner, Arvid Koval); great grandchild, Noah J. Barraza.

The family would like to extend a Thank You to the wonderful staff of DCI.

Family and friends will meet Friday, August 15, 2025, at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church for a 11:00am service. Father John Orr officiating.  Following the service, family and friends will go in procession to Highland Memorial Cemetery for a 1:00pm graveside service. Following the graveside service, friends are welcome to join the family at the Barraza residence, 552, Pebble Creek Rd., Knoxville, TN 37918, at 2:30pm for a gathering.
