Rev. Vencent Vernell Jones

Rev. Vencent V. Jones age 89 of Corryton, passed quietly in his sleep on Monday, March 23, 2026 at his home.  He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and the Prayer Warriors Sunday School Class.  He retired from Lloyd & Sheffer Food Brokers after 22 years of service.  He reitred from the ministry after 60 years of service at various Baptist Churches in the Knoxville and surrounding area.  He began his career in the ministry at Bethel Baptist Church in Corryton and his retired from Helton Springs Baptist Church in Rutledge.  He was an avid golfer and love splitting wood and selling the wood.  Preceded in death by his parents; Mack and Willie Jones; grandson, Brandon Whittle; sister, Virginia Hall; brothers, J. T. Jones, Herbert Jones and Virgil Jones.  Survivors; wife of 68 years, Wilma (Bates) Jones; children, Mike (Rebecca) Jones, Dana (Greg) Whittle, Tammy ( Duane) Atkins and Carolyn (Kent) Peters; grandchildren; Derek (Allie) Jones,  Bryan (Holly) Whittle, Brittney ( Max) Ogle, and Jessica ( Rick) Martineau; great-grandchildren, Oliver Jones, Ethan Whittle, Collin Whittle, Emersyn  Whittle, Grayson Whittle, Blaine Ogle and Eleanor  Jones; sister, Carolyn McNeil, several nieces and nephews; dear friend, Angie Williams.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel followed by a 7:00 p.m. funeral service, Rev. Jason Sluss and Rev. Mark Large officiating.  Family and friends will meet 1:45 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2026 at Eastview Memorial Gardens for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service, Rev.
