Rev. Junior Young

Reverend Junior Young, age 87, of Knoxville, TN passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025. He served in the National Guard, worked 35+ years in pastoral service and was the founder of Glory Land gospel singers. Junior loved the Lord and being outside tending to his garden when he was able. He worked in maintenance and was a driver in the trucking industry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Young; parents, Sam and Mae Young; sisters, June Hammock and infant sister and brother, James Young. He is survived by his children, Wayne Young (Lynn), Darrell Young (Joann), Ray Young, Norma Rutherford and Tony Young (Kathy); 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Pallbearers for the service will be Scotty Young, Shawn Young, Billy Reynolds, Shane Rutherford, Ean Russell, and Brent Walker. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel followed by a 7:00 p.m. funeral service, Rev. Ronnie Scarbrough and Rev. Jodie Darden will be officiating. Family and friends will meet in Lynnhurst Cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2025 for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service.
