The Light Remains
There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone the light remains.
Reba Marie Smith, age 74, unexpectedly passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025, finally receiving her angel wings. She was born October 21, 1951, to her parents, Samuel and Ella Gentry who preceded her in death. Many family members met her at heavens gates among them was her son, James Curtis Smith, Father-in-law, James David Smith and Mother-in-law, Irabell Ruble. Reba was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her surviving husband, Thomas James Smith, April Gentry and only granddaughter, Lillie Marie Sanford. She is also survived by sisters and brothers in law: John and Frances Wilkerson, Kathy and Raymond Kiser, Samuel Smith and Brenda Worsham; and many loving nieces and nephews. Reba spent her time here on earth loving and taking care of her family. She was a cook for Meadowview Retirement home where she became very close to the residents whom all loved her and the food she cooked for them. One of her favorite things to do was work in her yard with her flowers, she had a green thumb, and her flowers always brought her so much joy. She loved her family and friends, and she never met a stranger and would help anyone she could. She will be in our hearts forever and sadly missed daily until we met again.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 5pm to 7pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, followed by a 7pm funeral service officiated by Rev. Junior Roach. Family and friends will meet at 12:45pm Tuesday, November 25, 2025, and we will be laying her to her eternal resting place Ridenour Cemetery in Union County at 1pm.
