In Loving Memory of Reba Fleenor Lane

October 12, 1958 – June 10, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Reba Fleenor Lane, a devoted educator and beloved member of her community, on June 10, 2024. Reba’s unwavering dedication to education and her selfless commitment to others have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Reba was born on October 12, 1958, in Abingdon, Virginia, to Roy and Alice Fleenor. From an early age, Reba exhibited a passion for learning and a deep compassion for others, traits that would define her life and career. She pursued her education at the University of Tennessee, where she was a proud member of the Pride of the Southland Band, earning a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and Teaching, followed by a Master’s in Educational Administration and Supervision.

Reba’s career in education was both extensive and impactful. She began her journey as a teacher at Alice Bell and Ball Camp Elementary Schools, where she touched the lives of many young students. She then served as an Assistant Principal at Pond Gap and Powell Elementary Schools, before taking on the role of Principal at Shannondale and Powell Elementary Schools. Even after her retirement, Reba continued to contribute to
the educational community as an Academic Coach at Pellissippi State Community College and as an Assistant Principal at Bearden Elementary School. Her dedication to education was unparalleled, and she was known for her unwavering support for her students and colleagues.

Reba’s personal life was as rich and fulfilling as her professional one. She was married to Chris Lane, whom she met while attending the University of Tennessee. Their loving marriage spanned over 40 years, and together they were blessed with three children: Jessica, Trevor, and Adam. Reba was a devoted mother, wife, and friend, always putting her family and loved ones first. Reba and Chris's home was always filled with laughter and love, and their 44 years of marriage were a testament to their unwavering support and devotion to each other.

Known for her magnetic personality and her ability to bring people together, Reba was a beacon of love and selflessness. She was deeply involved in her church, West Lonsdale Baptist Church, where she worked tirelessly to ensure children had the opportunity to attend vacation bible school and dedicated her time to the children’s music ministry. Reba was passionate about planning events and volunteering, always eager to help those in need and create joyous occasions for friends and family.

Reba’s impact extended far beyond her immediate circles. She was a mentor and inspiration to many, always ready to offer guidance and support. She joins her mother, Alice Fleenor; her daughter, Jessica Lane; father-in-law, Tommy Lane; her sister-in-law, Diane Murphy; and her brother-in-law, Dwain Long, in eternal peace. She is survived by her loving husband, Chris; her sons, Trevor and Adam; her father, Roy Fleenor; her brothers, Anthony Fleenor (Diana) and Phil Fleenor; her mother-in-law, Inez Lane; her sister-in-law, Sheryl Long; her brother-in-law, Mark Lane (Tammy); Judy Anderson (Mike); special family friends; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared with her and the profound impact she had on their lives.

A celebration of Reba’s life will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Mynatt Funeral Home - Powell Chapel, 2000 Powell Drive, Powell, TN 37849.
