Ray Starnes

Ray Starnes, age 75 of Halls Crossroads, went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2023. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a long-time deacon and Sunday school teacher at Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer who was lucky enough to score 5 hole-in-ones in his lifetime. His career consisted of managing at Revco, Phar-mor, and Tindell’s. He is preceded in death by his mom, Rachel; his brothers, Johnny and Joe; and sister, Jean. He is survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Sue Starnes; sons, Don (Jessica) Starnes and Mike (Rebecca) Starnes; grandchildren, Austin (Kelsey), Jake, Emery, Easton, and Neyland; great-grandchildren Kendall, Isaac, and Emmitt; brother, Tim; Sister, Ruth; and sisters-in-law, Margie and Barbara. The family will receive friends at Beaver Dam Baptist Church on Sunday, February 5, 2023, from 3:00pm-5:00pm, with a 5:00pm service to follow, with Dr. Alan Price officiating. A private interment service with military honors, provided by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard, will take place at the East Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery John Sevier.
