Ray Alexander Pitts

Ray Alexander Pitts, age 87, of Knoxville, passed away on November 24, 2024 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was born on January 11, 1937 to the late Paul and Ruth (Rutherford) Pitts. 

After graduating high school, Ray served in the US Army for four years, and later served in the Air National Guard, for a combined 31 years of service. If that was not enough, Ray retired from the TVA after working an additional 20 years.

Ray is survived by his wife of 69 years, Donna; children, Larry Pitts (Liz), Allen Pitts, Tina Smith (Jeff), and Viki Baumgartner (Dean); grandchildren, Jason Smith, Sara Smith (John), Nekoe Baumgartner, Jennifer Lambdin (Bruce), Chris Pitts, Christina Pitts, and Adrian Pitts; great-grandchildren, Jack Smith, Logan Smith, Jayden Lambdin, and Trystan Lambdin.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ruth; sister, Helen Simpson; and two grandchildren, Korbin Baumgartner and Jordan Pitts.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at The East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E Gov John Sevier Hwy, on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 12:30pm. Pastor Keith Tillman is officiating.
