Randy Lee Canter

February 2, 1966 — May 28, 2026

Knoxville, TN

Randy Lee Canter, a lifelong son of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away leaving behind a legacy of hard work, fierce loyalty, and a heart larger than life. Born on February 2, 1966, Randy was raised in the hills and heart of Knoxville, the city he proudly called home for his entire life.

Randy was a true jack-of-all-trades, a man who could build, fix, or grow anything he put his hands to. Throughout his life, his career spanned multiple industries, reflecting his endless grit and adaptability. Whether he was transforming landscapes, leading crews as a construction foreman, or serving his country through his maintenance work for the Department of Defense, Randy approached every job with pride and an unyielding work ethic.

His work often called him away, taking him on the road for extended periods. But for Randy, the grueling travel and long hours were driven by a singular, beautiful purpose: his family and friends. He was the definition of selfless. Randy would return home from his travels and happily spend every single dollar he had earned to ensure his loved ones were taken care of, comfortable, and happy. He would regularly head back out on the road with nothing left in his pockets, completely content knowing he had given his all to the people he cherished. He didn't just provide; he poured every ounce of his labor and love into his inner circle.

Above all his professional achievements, Randy was a dedicated family man. He has been reunited in peace with his beloved parents, Barbara Ford and Jack Canter, who preceded him in death and welcomed him home.

Randy’s resilient spirit, humor, and generous soul live on through his surviving family. He is survived by his devoted sons, Devin Canter and Corey Canter, who carry forward their father's strength and character; and his loving siblings, Sherry Nance and Jack Canter, with whom he shared a lifetime of Knoxville roots and memories.

Randy was a proud uncle who leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews: Sherry’s children, Barbara Canter and Shane Canter, and Jack’s children, Grace Canter and Lindsey Canter.

He also leaves behind the absolute joys of his life, his grandchildren: Elena Canter, Liam Canter, and Kaylee Canter, who will grow up knowing the immense depth of their grandfather's love.

Randy Lee Canter lived life with open hands and an open heart. He gave everything he had to this world, and Knoxville is a little dimmer without his presence, though infinitely brighter for the time he spent here.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.mynattfh.com.
