Rachel L Maxey

Our mom, Rachel Lorraine (Clifton) Maxey, of Powell, TN, joined the angels on Saturday, September 20, 2025, surrounded by her family and friends.

Mom grew up near Strawberry Plains and her first job was at Helma's Restaurant. She worked for Levi's for 45 years and Cracker Barrell for another 12 years before retiring. Mom could grow a rose from a broken twig and loved working with flowers. She shared a warm smile and a heartfelt hug to everyone she met and loved. Mom could also be a ninja master with a hickory switch when we didn't listen to words.

We will be forever grateful for her love, wisdom, and guidance she has shown us throughout the years. She will be greatly missed every day.

Mom is preceded in death by her husband, James Maxey. She leaves behind her children, Terri Whitson, Pamela McDonald, and Clint Valentine; her grandsons, Brandon (Melissa) McDonald, Tanner (Samantha) McDonald, and Nathan Whitson; great grandchildren, Taylor McDonald and Jackson McDonald; sisters, Mary Ruth Walker and Rosa Valentine; several nieces, nephews, special friends, and her church family.

Friends may visit with the family at Mynatt Funeral Home Powell Chapel, on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.  A funeral service will follow at 8:00pm with Joe Norris officiating.

Family and friends will meet at 11:45am on Saturday, September 27, 2025 for a 12:00 noon interment service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Dandridge, TN.
