Penny D. Shumate

Penny D. Shumate, age 59, of Knoxville, Tennessee, closed her eyes for the last time this side of Heaven at 3:44 AM Saturday, May 10, 2025. She opened her eyes at the Pearly Gates with a new body. No more pain, no more diabetes, legs that work perfectly and 20/20 vision. Penny was raised in the Baptist faith and was saved when she was a young girl. She’s been on this journey for a long time. Today her race is won. Entering those Pearly Gates before her and anxiously awaiting her arrival was her Momma, Pat Williams. Oh, what a celebration when she saw her come through the gates. Left here on this side of Heaven to remember her and await that Heavenly reunion is her Dad, Wayne Williams (Diann Weaver); sister, Tammy (John) Ailor; niece, Delaney (Ethan) Farinella; her four-legged sissy, Lucky; several aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family who grew up in church together and remained family since day one. The family would like to express a very special thank you to Fort Sanders Regional Hospice and nurses, Crystal, Wil and Brian for their care and compassion during this time. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 8:00 PM.
