Peggy Johnson

September 8, 1947 — October 20, 2024

Peggy Carver Johnson, age 77, joyfully joined her Mom and Dad in Heaven on October 20, 2024. Born September 8, 1947, she was BORN AGAIN/SAVED BY GRACE June 12, 1960, on the first bench of the Amen Corner during Revival at McFerrin Missionary Baptist Church. Peggy retired in 2012 and moved to Knoxville TN with her husband to be with her son’s family in July 2013. She was a receptionist at the Freedom Forum First Amendment Center where she worked since Dec. 1995, and she also worked for Davidson Academy School 12 yrs. prior. She spread joy to all she encountered. Her voice came to be well known for her enthusiasm when answering the phone at both places she worked. She was proud of her almost perfect attendance at work having missed less than 46 days out of her 46 yrs employed and proud of her high standards for a job well done! Peggy considered her life abundantly blessed. With her husband of 58 years, Joseph F. Johnson, she welcomed her son Andy in 1977, danced with him at his wedding in 2011, and held her granddaughter for the first time in 2013. She was a light in every room she walked in. She knew God is just a smile away, a kind word away, or a prayer away. Her faith in her savior, Jesus Christ, never faltered and she is now safely in His care.

Peggy was preceded in death by her loving parents, Andrew Bruce Carver and Mary Magdalene Carver.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Foster Johnson and her son, Joseph Andrew “Andy/Tiger” Johnson, and only granddaughter Gracie Johnson. She is also dearly missed by her brother Ricky Allen Carver and wife Karen Denise Carver, niece Erin Elizabeth (Carver) Gaffney and husband Brett Gaffney, daughter-in-law Stacie H. Johnson, and great-nieces Clara-May Jean Gaffney and Georgia Leigh Gaffney.

Visitation will be held at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home at 2707 Gallatin Pike, Nashville TN 37216 on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 1pm - 3pm, with a service in the chapel at 3pm. Visitation will continue after the service for one hour.

A graveside service will be held at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Ln, Nashville, TN 37221, on Monday, October 28 at 1pm.
