Olen Trent Wood, Jr.

Olen Trent "Chip" Wood, Jr., age 77 of Knoxville, TN, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, May 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Chip accepted Christ as his Savior as a 9 year old boy.  Born November, 23, 1948, in Knoxville, TN. He was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1966.  He attended college in Knoxville, TN.  Chip was a loving husband to his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Noreen. They were married September 1, 1972.  They shared almost 54 wonderful years of marriage.  He was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church in Powell for over 50 years. He taught the children’s Sunday School for over 20 years. He loved reading and studying his bible. His family was the center of his life.  He was a dedicated husband, son, brother, brother-in-law, father-in-law, cousin and pappy to his grandchildren.  He loved his daughter-in-laws, Rebekah Lankford, Nicola Wood and Karen Wood.  His bonus son, Gerald Lankford was a true friend and blessing to him.  He lived his life to honor his Savior.   Chip worked in sales for many years. He worked for Industrial Paper and Packaging and A&W Office Supply and Janitorials.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, O.T. Wood, Sr. and Joan Warwick Wood; his precious son, Brian Wood; sister, Janne Burke; sister-in-law, Becky Simmons and Debbie Gast.

He is survived by his sweetheart, Noreen; his precious sons, Jesse (Nicola) Wood, Matthew Wood, Gerald and Rebekah (Wood) Lankford; daughter-in-law, Karen Wood; his loving grandchildren, Chloe, Ariel and Scott Lankford and Addie Wood; brothers-in-laws, Dennis Gast, Pat Burke, Gary Simmons and Jerry Simmons; aunt, Liz (John) Loy; cousins, Patrick and Andy Loy, Cindy (Brent) Smith, Diane Warwick, Anita (Mike), J.B. (Phyllis) Mize, Ronnie (Conda) Mize and Charles (Paula) Lawson; nephews, Brad, Justin (Allison) and Adam Gast; nieces, Angie Simmons and Lisa (Ryan) Hineman; host of dear cousins and family whom he loved very much.

Chip is now in the presence of his Savior he loved so much.

The family will receive friends 5:30pm - 7:30pm, Friday, May 29, 2026, at Temple Baptist Church Curtis Hudson Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 7:30pm.  Pastor Derrick Morlan officiating. Speakers to include, James Zenker, Pastor Roger Hillard and Jesse Wood.  Family and friends will meet at 10:45am, Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Greenwood Cemetery for a 11:00am interment service.
