Nancy Lee Greer Stanley, 89, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully the morning of, November 20, 2024. She was born, September 10, 1935, in Phoenix, Arizona. Preceded in death by her father, Cyrus Martin; mother, Pearl Louise; brothers, Ronnie, Sherrill and Freddy (Greer).
Nancy was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, (she loved her family!) and tireless worker. While raising two sons, she spent 30 years in retail, for both Millers and JC Penney’s, garnering aesthetics accolades from customers and ‘star sales’ awards from her employers. Though even after retiring in the 1990’s she resumed work in food services (with Krogers) until she was 85 years old.
In the spare time she had, Nancy loved to work on her house, especially in the backyard, slinging a pick to dig up the dirt, bedrock, and fossils, always trying to beautify and make things just look ‘purdy’.
She will be remembered for her demonstrable love, servant heart, and fashion style. Nancy’s rosy red cheeks and warm smile accompanied her wherever she went, even as she endured multiple hospital surgeries, falling and breaking her neck, and into the final days. She remained optimistic even in the midst of suffering, trusting God fully for his providence and care.
She is survived by her sons, John Stanley of Knoxville, TN, Stephen Stanley of Johns Creek, Ga. Grandchildren, Jason Hamilton, Shay Stanley and Quinn Stanley. Devoted and special niece, Debbie Greer Bass, (Haley), nieces and nephews, Freddie and Sherry Greer of Knoxville, Dee Dee Greer, Randy Greer, Marty Greer, Aaron Prince, and Melanie Greer.
Nancy will be laid to rest Tuesday, November 26th, 2024, 3:00pm, Greenwood Cemetery, Knoxville, Tennessee.
