Millard C. Smith, Jr. (Junior)

Millard C. Smith, Jr. (Junior) age 79 of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on June 5, 2023. He was a Vietnam war veteran stationed in the DMZ in South Korea and a member of the American Legion and VFW. Junior retired from Norfolk Southern Railway. He enjoyed buying and trading old cars, attending car shows and ballgames for his kids and grandkids, watching NASCAR (especially when Dale Earnhardt Sr. raced) and UT sports when they were winning. Junior was the proudest of his salvation. After being saved at the age of 65, his life was forever changed. His love of the Lord was evident in everything he did. He will be remembered as a kind soul, and a true gentleman, who kids believed was Santa Claus. Preceded in death by parents Millard C. Smith Sr. and Kathryn Smith, brother David Smith. Survived by loving wife of 33 years, Charlotte Smith, children Pam Brice, Missy Winterton (Mark), Teresa Hancock (Scott), Kevin Ridenour (Deb), grandchildren Chris Rutherford (Chelsea), Ashton Wade, Austin Hancock, Zach Hancock, and Makiyah Hancock, great-grandchildren Audrey Rutherford, Jordan Rutherford, Kinsley Hancock, sister Brenda Clark, and special friend Tracy Pitner and his four legged babies, Riley and Sadie. Family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM  with service to follow at 8:00 PM Thursday, June 8, 2023, at New Beverly Baptist Church, Rev. Eddie Sawyer, Rev. Mike Vincent, and Rev. Jeff McMurray officiating. Family and friends will meet at 12:15 PM Friday, June 9, 2023, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel and proceed to Greenwood Cemetery for a 1:00 PM interment with military honors provided by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard.
