Mike Walker

Michael Shane Walker, age 57, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on July 30, 2024. He retired from Stooksbury Construction and was a proud member of Mynatt Road Baptist Church.  

Mike was larger than most could comprehend; his sense of humor was one of a kind (thank goodness!) He loved getting us all riled up as much as he loved his coffee, sweets but maybe not more than that ole’ Jeep. He was fun and silly and witty and kind. He was the original animal whisperer, making friends with the likes of chickens and skunks. He was an extraordinary human. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mary Walker; and brothers Billy Walker and Randy Walker.

Mike is survived by his wife of 26 years, Michelle; sons, Dana, Michael Jr. (Hayvin), and daughter, Marissa (Tristan); siblings, Larry (Martha), Melissa, and Jennifer (Bradley); grandchildren, Miley Carter and unborn grandson, Koltin Dean Walker due to arrive on October 31, 2024 – which just happens to be Mike’s favorite holiday; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

The Walker family will receive friends on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel. Mike will be laid to rest on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Fort Sumter Community Cemetery at 11:00 am.  Pastor Scott Harmon, officiating.  Trio: Kim Harmon, Sue Tucker, and Mary-Francis Mays.

As Mike would say, 

“Strap in and hang on”

Here we go.
