Michael Edward Potter, age 50, of Knoxville TN passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Michael was born on May 10, 1973 at Fort Sanders hospital with an intellectual disability. He went to the pediatric language lab at UT until age 6. He then attended Bearden Elementary School of Special Education then to Fort Sanders School for Special Education. Michael was very energetic and full of energy. He enjoyed family and friends and had a love for everyone. He spent many years of membership visiting the Knoxville Zoo, many years enjoying the Food and Amusement rides of the Tennessee Valley Fair, Many years of Ripley’s Attractions and many years at Dollywood. He enjoyed eating food and drinks, especially Icee’s. He has lived at a residential house with another male and friend Sammi, staffed fulltime by R.H.A. He has made several friends both current and former staff. Special thanks to Adofe and Vince and Brandon. Michael’s care at UT Hospital and select specialty care in Powell, TN has been exceptionally great for the last two months. Special thanks to all of the doctor’s and nurses who cared for Michael. Preceded in death by Grandmother; Dosha Potter, uncle; H.L. (Mary) Potter, Arnold (Mary) Potter, W.G. “Bill” Potter. Survived by parents; Frank Potter and Pat Woods, sister; Dr. Marie (Jason) Collier, several aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00pm on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel. Family and Friends will meet at 11:45am on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Clapps Chapel Cemetery for a 12:00 noon Graveside service. Officiated by Rev. Cody Hoover.
