Michael "Mike" Edward Riggs

Michael “Mike” Edward Riggs, age 70 of Knoxville, passed away December 30, 2024 at UT hospital surrounded by family and special friends. A 1972 graduate of Powell High School and a graduate of the Knoxville Institute of Hair Design, Mike worked as a barber for over 40 years. He was an avid UT fan and overall sports fan, as well as, a Harley Davidson Motorcycle lover and an enthusiastic cook. Preceded in death by son Chad Edward Riggs, parents Edward and Elizabeth Riggs, nieces Kelly and Karen Cardwell, best friend Mike Benson. Survived by children Spencer Taylor Riggs, Maci Lauren Riggs (Cole Hitson), and Christopher Michael Riggs (Shawna), daughter-in-law Denise Riggs, grandchildren Eli, Ella, Piper, and Skylar, sisters Vickie Dycus (Don) and Sherri Conrad (Daniel), special friend and mother of Spencer and Maci: Sandy Riggs. Also survived by special friends James Howerton, Paul Roach, Larry Snyder, many other friends and extended family. Special thanks to Fountain Gate Barbershop for being so good to Mike. Family will receive friends 1:00-3:00pm Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel with a service to follow at 3:00pm, Dr. Todd Stinnett officiating.
